Meanwhile, Suryakumar registered a half-century, smacking 67 off 43 balls, before losing his wicket to Avesh Khan in the 17th over. Impact Player Tilak Varma failed to do his job and retired before the final over, with Mitchell Santner arriving to support Pandya. With MI needing 22 in six balls, Pandya began with a six, but failed to replicate that in the other deliveries as his side reached 191/5 in 20 overs.

रोहित शर्मा की गैरमौजूदगी (चोट के कारण) में मुंबई ने विल जैक्स और रायन रिकेलटन को ओपनिंग के लिए भेजा, लेकिन दोनों नाकाम रहे—जैक्स ने 5 और रिकेलटन ने 10 रन बनाए।
